Convertor station in Lehrte
Within the framework of the largest investment programme of DB Energie's "Continuous Optimisation of the Traction Current Generator Facilities", the consortium made up of Converteam and Balfour Beatty Rail is constructing a static convertor station with an output of 60MW in the Lehrte traction current plant. Convertor stations are necessary to convert the 50Hz current, which DB Energie receives via the high-voltage network of the public network supplier, into a 16.7Hz traction current and to feed into the railway-owned 110kV high-voltage network. The project handling is taking place via the signalling and electric engineering divisions of Balfour Beatty Rail GmbH.
In addition to using our own resources, the realisation of the project is taking place with long-standing partners such as Siemens Energy Automation and Betonbau GmbH (www.betonbau.com). The initial start-up operations by Converteam will take place in April 2009.
